Why is MySQL Backup of your websites important?
Many people don’t know that they can backup their websites via their CPanel console. CPanel made it easy for webmasters to backup their MySQL databases by providing it in CPanel’s Backup page.
But is it really important for you as a webmaster?
Many people don’t realize that their MySQL database is as important as that of their website pages. Backing up the MySQL portion of the website is often neglected or taken for granted by webmasters.
In a highly dynamic website like blog, community sites made with content management systems (CMS) and script-based pages, MySQL is the driving force that will deliver the pages to your visitors. The content are normally inside the databases where the script is getting it from. Without the content saved in the database, these types of sites wont work.
If, for example, your webhost experienced downtime or server crash or maybe your site got hacked or defaced by some hackers out there, you will save a lot of effort restoring your site if you have MYSQL database backup. Imagine if you have to do encoding of its content all over again.
So next time you visit your CPanel’s console, be sure you backup your MySQL database as well. You will be glad that you did.
Till next time…
