Webhost Deleted 900 Domains Without Website Backups? Scary Hosting Story…
Yet another web hosting nightmare have happened as reported on Webhosting talk today. The forum poster claimed that 900 websites must have been wiped out because of a bad transfer or migration to a new server. The poster is encouraging others who have been affected to file for a class lawsuit.
When will webmasters ever learn. I am sure most if not all did rely on the webhost for the backups. It appears that the host involved here has admitted that they have a problematic backup solution they are working on that should have served as a reminder or warning to all website owners to keep and save their backups. Not until this disaster happened that they come to realize it.
And when you review the host’s TOS, you will see that it is not at all responsible for any loss of websites. Scary isn’t it. People do not read the fine print so they get caught at the time they need to read the legal talk. Too bad for all those folks affected.
